#20 McArthur-Burney Falls State Park

Hi everyone! The blog has been a hemorrhoid so I'm sorry it's taken so long to communicate. I take most of the pictures but Kae throws some excellent ones in from time to time. Kae is the wordsmith and will be telling the story as she loves to do. So here is Kae’s additional explanation for our lack of communication in our first 2 months out:

The truth is I simply haven’t “found my voice”. Last time out on a Grand tour in 2005 -2009 I found that our big beautiful Lab, Bouregard Hairy Huggmuffin, was my voice and it was so easy! This time, not having Bo any longer, being nearly 15 years older myself and seeing that Tara, our 16+ years old Scottish Cairn Terrier, is not interested in voicing her opinions of people, places and events, I decided, as the British say, “I’ll give it a go!”

We met up with Cokie’s nephew Charles and his family at McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park at Lake Britton east and north of Redding, CA. This is a wonderful place for fishing, kayaking and family gatherings. The Logans have access to a PG&E site for employees and retirees with cabins, a pier, fire pit, etc. at one end of the lake. One of the two recently born great nephews of Cokie’s, Owen, was also there with his daddy Andy and mommy Teresa. His Pop is introducing his boy to the fine art of fishing at a really early age by ‘front-packing’ him while lure fishing. Bet this kid will be casting before kindergarten!

Thanks for taking us along on the journey! Your voice is coming through beautifully! How have a never been to Burney Falls? So beautiful. The photos are the siren call. Meet me somewhere wonderful, cool, and green where the river crashes over the rocks to fall below.
